UK May Drop Antitrust Probe Into Amazon Pricing Policy

Law360, New York (August 29, 2013, 4:41 PM EDT) -- Following Inc.'s decision to stop barring sellers who use its Marketplace platform from offering cheaper prices elsewhere online, the U.K.'s antitrust agency said Thursday it was inclined to close its investigation into whether the policy was anti-competitive.

The Office of Fair Trading said it welcomed an announcement earlier this week by Germany's competition regulators — who had also launched a probe into Amazon's “price parity” policy — that the online retailer would be discontinuing the practice across the European Union on Friday.
