Insurer Says It Was Tricked Into Covering Scientology Clinic

Law360, New York (September 3, 2013, 3:57 PM EDT) -- An Illinois insurance company asked a Georgia federal court to void a professional liability policy issued to Narconon of Georgia Inc., saying it had been misled into insuring the Scientology-run rehabilitation clinic. 

Evanston Insurance Co., a division of Markel Corp., alleges Narconon fraudulently mischaracterized its services and facilities in obtaining professional liability insurance. The case follows a June lawsuit by Narconon's former clients claiming the rehab centers took their money but failed to make a meaningful change in their health.
