Miami Beach Official Sues To Block Vote On $1B Development

Law360, Miami (September 3, 2013, 8:48 PM EDT) -- A Miami Beach city commissioner on Thursday filed a lawsuit attempting to block a planned citywide vote to approve a $1 billion convention center redevelopment project, calling such an initiative premature.

City Commissioner Jonah Wolfson asked the court to stop a Nov. 5 referendum on the convention center project because the parties have not yet agreed to the many leases necessary for the project, according to the suit filed in Miami.
