Apple Among 15 Cos. Sued Over Computer Security Patent

Law360, New York (September 4, 2013, 2:57 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc., Acer Computer Corp., and more than a dozen other electronics makers were sued Tuesday by Texas-based PanTaurus LLC, which claims the companies are violating a patent related to computer security.

PanTaurus, a nonpracticing entity headquartered in Beaumont, Texas, filed 15 patent infringement lawsuits alleging numerous companies are violating a patent that describes a secure computer system. Among those targeted by PanTaurus' complaints are BlackBerry Corp., Asus Computer Inc., Sony Electronics Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co.
