Drugmakers Cleared Of Methamphetamine Liability

Law360, New York (February 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has thrown out a lawsuit brought by several counties in Arkansas alleging that Pfizer Inc. and other drug companies failed to take steps to stop people from using cold remedies containing ephedrine and pseudoephedrine to make methamphetamine.

Judge William R. Wilson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas threw out the suit on Monday, saying that the counties did not have standing to sue and there wasn't a direct link between the drug makers and the alleged injuries....
