Judge Trims Ford's Suit Over $20M Insurance Payments

Law360, New York (September 5, 2013, 3:17 PM EDT) -- A Berkshire Hathaway Inc. insurer on Thursday toppled part of Ford Motor Co.'s lawsuit alleging it conspired to stop more than $20 million in insurance payments for product liability claims, after persuading a Virginia judge to apply Michigan law to the dispute.

U.S. District Judge Robert Payne tossed Ford's claim that National Indemnity Co. violated Virginia's business conspiracy statute and refused to grant summary judgment on its claim that NICO tortiously interfered with its insurance contracts with HDI-Gerling.
