Cypress Sues BlackBerry Over USB, Touch-Screen Patents

Law360, Los Angeles (September 10, 2013, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Electronics company Cypress Semiconductor Corp. on Tuesday hit BlackBerry Ltd. with a lawsuit in California federal court alleging the telecommunications giant's smartphones and tablets infringe a slew of its patents relating to USB and touch-screen technology.

San Jose-based Cypress claimed BlackBerry has infringed and continues to infringe three of its patents covering USB technology and three covering touch-screen technology through the sale of smartphones and tablets, including the BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone and its supporting firmware, software and peripheral components.
