Corzine Attacks CFTC Lawsuit Over MF Global Collapse

Law360, New York (September 11, 2013, 12:23 PM EDT) -- Former MF Global Inc. CEO Jon Corzine pressed a New York federal judge Tuesday to dismiss claims he oversaw the firm’s mishandling of $900 million in customer funds, arguing the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission had filed suit to "sully" his character without evidence of wrongdoing.

Corzine’s attorneys at Dechert LLP said the CFTC’s June 27 complaint lacked evidence that he “acted in bad faith” or knowingly directed lower-level MF Global employees to dip into segregated customer funds before the firm filed for bankruptcy in October...
