Rent-To-Own Co. Can't Slip Pa. Spyware Class Action

Law360, New York (September 17, 2013, 6:53 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss a putative class action accusing ColorTyme Inc. and its Washington franchisee CMG Rentals LLC of selling computers enabled to intercept customer communications, saying that the companies routed information through Pennsylvania and so gave her jurisdiction to hear the case.

U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon denied the defendants’ motions to dismiss the suit, nixing ColorTyme and CMG’s claims that their ties to Pennsylvania were not strong enough for them to be sued there.
