Organic Grower Sues Suppliers Over Salmonella

Law360 (February 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A California organic-vegetable grower has allegedly found salmonella in its spinach and spring-mix crops, sparking a lawsuit against the companies it claims provided tainted fertilizer and raising questions about whether tainted vegetables are in danger of reaching consumers.

Oceano Packing Company LLC filed a civil suit on Feb. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Helm, Calif.-based fertilizer manufacturer True Organic Products Inc. and Denver-based fertilizer distributor Western Farm Service Inc.
