Sega Drops $141M On Bankrupt Game Developer Index Corp.

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 12:29 PM EDT) -- Sega Sammy Holdings has purchased bankrupt mobile content producer Index Corp. for 14 billion yen ($141 million) at auction, Sega said Tuesday.

The purchase allows Sega, a major Japanese game developer, to reap the popularity of role playing games like the “Megami Tensei,” “Persona” and “Etrian Odyssey” series, among others, according to a company news release.

Index filed for bankruptcy in June after being investigated for fraud and 24.5 billion yen in outstanding debt, according to Japanese media. It was delisted from Japanese stock exchanges in...
