Probe Leads Discovery Girls Magazine To Update Advertising

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 5:03 PM EDT) -- Discovery Girls Magazine has agreed to modify its sweepstakes advertising to better protect the privacy of child entrants and disclose the odds of winning after the Children's Advertising Review Unit challenged contest requirements, the industry watchdog said Friday.

During CARU's routine monitoring for compliance with its guidelines for children's advertising, online privacy protection and the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, the group said it came across an ad for a sweepstakes in an issue of Discovery Girls and on the magazine's website.
