Broadcom Wins Judgment In Video Patent Case

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge ruled on Thursday that the doctrine of laches bars a software engineer from bringing claims against Broadcom Inc. over a patent on TV recording and replaying technology.

Judge Martin Jenkins of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a motion for summary judgment filed by Broadcom and the inventor of the allegedly infringed patent, Paul Beard, against software engineer Mark Moore, who said that he was the co-inventor of the technology.
