Senate Confirms Hughes As Newest Fed. Circ. Judge

Law360, New York (September 24, 2013, 1:49 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Todd M. Hughes as a judge on the Federal Circuit, giving the court its full complement of 12 active judges and making Hughes the first openly gay federal appeals court judge in U.S. history.

The Senate voted 98-0 to approve Hughes' nomination. He is currently the deputy director of the Justice Department civil division's commercial litigation branch and was nominated to the Federal Circuit by President Barack Obama in February.
