Law360, New York (September 23, 2013, 6:24 PM EDT) -- On Aug. 19, 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice issued a press release announcing that it had entered into a $26 million settlement with Florida-based Shands Healthcare to resolve allegations that six of Shands’ facilities submitted false claims to Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs for inpatient services that should have been billed as outpatient services.
