FERC Chairman Rules Out Reregulation

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Though consumers may think a return to a regulated industry will bring an end to rising energy costs, regulators remain steadfastly against the idea as they work toward "perfect competition," according to the chairman of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

FERC Chairman Joseph T. Kelliher, speaking on Friday at the Cambridge Energy Research Associates annual conference, said despite higher fuel prices, the U.S. energy markets continue to function well.
