Worker Cops To Fraud Tied To Fatal Helicopter Crash

Law360, New York (September 24, 2013, 5:59 PM EDT) -- An Oregon man on Monday pled guilty to fraud charges related to a 2008 helicopter crash that killed nine people in California, admitting to his role in fudging weight calculations and performance charts submitted to the U.S. Forest Service in order to win $20 million worth of contracts.

Levi Phillips, 46, copped to defrauding the government by falsifying contract bid proposals on behalf of Carson Helicopters Inc., where he served as director of maintenance at the time, in order to secure $20 million worth of contracts....
