EU-Google Discussions At 'Crucial' Point, Antitrust Head Says

Law360, Washington (September 25, 2013, 6:14 PM EDT) -- The European Commission's antitrust head said Wednesday that the commission is at a “crucial passage” in its discussions with Google Inc. as it determines whether to settle its investigation into search manipulation allegations or to file formal charges against the company.

Although Google presented the commission with a proposal earlier in September to assuage European antitrust concerns that sparked a three-year investigation, EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia claimed remedies didn't go far enough, and he has pushed the search engine giant to revise its offer....
