Sens. Float Bill To Keep Paying Military Through Shutdown

Law360, Washington (September 25, 2013, 5:56 PM EDT) -- Two U.S. Senators on Tuesday introduced a bipartisan bill that would guarantee military members and “critical” civilian workers their pay and allowances in the event of a federal government shutdown.

The legislation proposed by U.S. Senators Mark Udall, D-Colo., and Jerry Moran, R-Kan., would guarantee military service members their military pay and allowances on time and also continue to pay civilian workers in combat zones or those performing work “critical” to the military, the senators said in a statement.
