Samsung Offers EU New Essential Patent Antitrust Fixes

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 7:11 PM EDT) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. told the European Commission Friday that it will offer new competition fixes to assuage the watchdog's concerns over its standard essential patent litigation against rival smartphone makers, the European Union's antitrust chief said Friday.

The electronics giant has already submitted proposals once before, but the EC sought an improved offer. Now the watchdog expects to begin market testing the new proposal soon, Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said at Fordham University's 40th Annual Conference on International Antitrust Law and Policy.
