NJ Judge Tells State To Allow Same-Sex Marriages By October

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 7:36 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey judge ordered the state Friday to effectuate legal same-sex marriage by late October, striking down the state's civil union law after declaring it unconstitutional, as Gov. Chris Christie vowed to mount an appellate battle.

Superior Court Judge Mary C. Jacobson granted summary judgment to six same-sex couples and Garden State Equality, a New Jersey same-sex marriage advocacy group, which sued the state to overturn its civil union law.
