SEC Extends Comment Period On General Solicitation Rule

Law360, New York (September 30, 2013, 1:45 PM EDT) -- The comment period has been extended for a proposed U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rule that would lift the ban on general solicitation in some private securities offerings, a government spokesman said on Monday.

The rule, which covers offerings in venture capital, private equity, real estate, hedge funds and other types of private investments, would largely increase the scope of permitted fundraising activities.
