Pa. Lawmaker Floats Fracking Leaseholder Protections

Law360, Philadelphia (October 1, 2013, 3:21 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania state senator announced Friday that he would introduce legislation aimed at expanding the rights of landowners who currently hold leases with gas companies for the exploration of natural gas.

The package of three bills brought forward by Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming, aims to give leaseholders greater transparency by allowing them to check gas company records to inspect payment details. It would also offer protections for landowners who challenge the accuracy of their royalty payments.
