Parliament Urges EU To Approve Copyright Rule

Law360, New York (February 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A member of the European Parliament has urged the European Union's member states to approve a measure, approved by the Parliament last year, that would require criminal punishment for large-scale commercial piracy.

Italian socialist Parliament member Nicola Zingaretti, who wrote the measure, said on Feb. 5 in a letter to the EU's Council of Ministers that the member states must take “urgent action ... in response to the increasingly systematic violation of copyright by some Internet users.”
