Applera & Bio-Rad In Settlement Talks Over PCR

Law360 (December 15, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Embattled Applera Corp. and MJ Research Inc. are in new settlement discussions, seeking to resolve their seven-year-old fight over valuable patents for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) instruments in the life sciences industry.

Applera and co-plaintiff Roche Molecular Systems sued Nevada-based MJ Research and its two principals, Michael and John Finney, in June 1998 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. Stratagene Corp. was also named in the suit.
