Companies Sued Over Retractable USB Cable Patent

Law360, New York (February 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A distributor of retractable computer cables is asserting a patent for the technology against cable manufacturers and retailers, including RadioShack Corp., Fry's Electronics Inc. and Belkin International Inc.

Retractable Technologies LLC filed suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, alleging infringement of a patent covering a mechanism for winding a cable that has at least one USB connector.

Other defendants in the case include Ultra Products Inc., CMO America LLC, Cables Unlimited, Lastar Inc., Targus Inc. and Iasco Products.
