SCOTUS Declines To Hear Calif. Water Plan Dispute

Law360, Chicago (October 7, 2013, 8:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear an appeal challenging a water management plan aimed at ending a long-running dispute over water rights in California's Santa Maria Valley that has pitted farmers against fast-growing cities in the area.

In a summary order, the high court rejected a petition for writ of certiorari lodged by dozens of landowners — mainly farmers — who argued that the management plan improperly allocates water contrary to federal irrigation preference.
