USDA Links Salmonella Outbreak To Calif. Poultry Company

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 7:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture alerted the public on Monday to an ongoing salmonella outbreak that has sickened nearly 300 people nationwide, linking it to chicken produced by a California poultry company.

A reported 278 people in 17 states have been infected with strains of Salmonella Heidelberg, most of them in California. The raw chicken products from Foster Farms believed to be the source of the outbreak have not been recalled, however.
