Judge Grounds Safeflight's Patent Case

Law360, New York (February 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has tossed a lawsuit that accused Chelton Flight Systems Inc. of infringing Safeflight Inc.'s patent on a video display system that assists pilots in landing their aircraft.

In granting Chelton's motion for summary judgment, Judge John R. Adams of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio ruled that the patent was merely a simplified version of prior technology developed by NASA and that it was therefore invalid.
