Google Seeks AIA Review Of Unwired Planet Ad Patents

Law360, New York (October 9, 2013, 5:28 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. on Tuesday asked to have two mobile advertising patents it has been sued over by Unwired Planet LLC invalidated under the America Invents Act's business method review program, arguing that they both claim abstract ideas that cannot be patented.

Unwired Planet sued Google in Nevada federal court last year, alleging that products including Google Wallet and Google AdWords infringe its patents. The complaint alleges infringement of 10 patents, of which Google took aim at two in its separate petitions to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
