Brazil Antitrust Watchdog Blocks Road Barrier Tie-Up

Law360, New York (October 10, 2013, 5:45 PM EDT) -- Brazil's antitrust enforcer voted Wednesday to block Armco Staco SA from buying Mangels Industrial SA's metallic barriers unit after finding the deal would give Armco nearly 70 percent of the market for road barriers.

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, barred the tie-up on the recommendation of its general superintendence, which had warned that the deal would combine the top two companies in the country that make galvanized metal barriers used on roadways to protect vehicles.
