SCE Seeks $4B From Mitsubishi Over Nuke Plant Shutdown

Law360, New York (October 17, 2013, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Southern California Edison Co. on Wednesday lodged an arbitration demand seeking at least $4 billion in damages from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., claiming the company breached its contract in providing defective steam generators for the utility's now-shuttered San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

SCE, which originally filed a notice of dispute against Mitsubishi in July, said it filed the binding arbitration demand with the International Commerce Commission after the companies couldn't resolve their dispute.
