USPTO OKs Apple Bid For AIA Review Of SightSound Music IP

Law360, New York (October 21, 2013, 8:40 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Apple Inc.'s request that it review the validity of two SightSound Technologies LLC patents for online music distribution under an America Invents Act program for reviewing business method patents.

For each of the two patents, Apple filed separate petitions seeking review in May, one claiming that the patent covers an unpatentable abstract idea and a second claiming that it is obvious and anticipated.
