Christie Drops NJ High Court Challenge To Gay Marriage

Law360, New York (October 21, 2013, 1:58 PM EDT) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's administration on Monday withdrew its state Supreme Court appeal to block same-sex marriage on the same day marriages began, freeing gay couples in the state to wed without fear of having their marriages invalidated by a future ruling.

John J. Hoffman, New Jersey's acting attorney general, filed a letter with the high court Monday withdrawing its appeal in Garden State Equality v. Dow, a case filed by a marriage equality advocacy group and six same-sex couples challenging the state's civil union...
