US, Japan Open Talks On Auto, Insurance Barriers

Law360, New York (October 21, 2013, 5:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. and Japan started a round of discussions Monday concerning access to Japan's automotive and insurance markets, along with other thorny issues the two sides are aiming to address parallel to talks for the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The two countries were expected to meet in Washington for bilateral negotiations on nontariff-related trade barriers, the third round of discussions since the U.S. in April backed Japan's participation in the TPP, a proposed trade agreement among 12 Pacific Rim countries.
