DC Metro Settles Insurance Fight Over Deadly 2009 Crash

Law360, New York (October 22, 2013, 5:14 PM EDT) -- The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority on Thursday settled a $9 million lawsuit accusing insurance adviser Aon Risk Services Inc. of failing to recommend a policy that would have shielded it from liability in a fatal 2009 crash.

The Washington, D.C., transportation bureau dropped the litigation following a confidential settlement that will resolve allegations of breach of contract, negligence and constructive fraud surrounding Metro’s exposure to out-of-pocket casualty losses in the wake of a June 22, 2009, crash that killed nine commuters.
