GOP Lawmakers Push FTC For Section 5 Guidance

Law360, New York (October 23, 2013, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Eight Republican lawmakers urged Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez on Wednesday to issue formal guidelines on the antitrust watchdog's so-called Section 5 authority to police unfair methods of competition, following the lead of two Republican commissioners who have criticized the lack of guidance on the provision.

In a letter, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., along with several other Republican lawmakers involved with antitrust oversight, said that the FTC should put out formal guidance so that businesses could continue to innovate and craft viable...
