Miami Lakes Mayor Pleads Not Guilty To Bribery Charges

Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 7:05 PM EDT) -- Suspended Miami Lakes Mayor Michael A. Pizzi pled not guilty in Florida federal court on Friday to charges that he participated in a kickback and bribery scheme to obtain and keep thousands of dollars in federal grant money.

The city official, who is also the town attorney for Medley, Fla., was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Miami on one count of conspiracy to commit extortion and four counts of attempted bribery.
