Federal Workers Should Be Exposed To Suits, Lawmakers Say

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 3:02 PM EDT) -- House lawmakers on Tuesday called for reforms that would allow property owners to sue individual federal employees for misconduct, claiming that government land agency officials are using abusive tactics to pressure rural families into giving up their property rights.

Citing examples of rogue employees overstepping their authority and demanding federal access to private land, members of the Natural Resources subcommittee on Public Lands and Environmental Regulations said that landholders should have an opportunity to hold officials accountable for their actions.
