Foreign Subsidies, Tariffs Hurt Steel Trade, US Cos. Say

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 4:49 PM EDT) -- A U.S. steel industry group said Friday that practices in countries like China and India — including restrictive export licensing requirements, import tariffs and government subsidies — distort trade and harm American businesses.

In a statement Friday, the American Iron and Steel Institute said it had recently provided input for a report on foreign trade barriers compiled annually by the U.S. Trade Representative's Office.
