Fla. Hospice's $3M FCA Settlement Gets Court OK

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 4:47 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday approved a $3 million settlement in a False Claims Act suit alleging Hospice of the Comforter Inc. defrauded Medicare, shooting down objections from the whistleblower who argued that the deal was unreasonably low.

Chief U.S. District Judge Anne C. Conway approved the $3 million deal between the federal government and Hospice of the Comforter and overruled the objections raised by relator Douglas Stone, saying the deal was fair, reasonable and adequate in putting to end litigation alleging the Orlando hospice...
