Mexico Regulator Rebuffs Sherwin-Williams' $2.3B Comex Deal

Law360, New York (October 30, 2013, 3:30 PM EDT) -- Sherwin-Williams Co.’s plans for Latin American expansion have again hit a wall as Mexico’s antitrust regulator has denied its appeal of a ruling that blocked its planned $2.34 billion buy of Mexican paint and coatings business Consorcio Comex SA de CV, the company said Wednesday.

The Cleveland-based paint and coatings manufacturer said the Federal Economic Competition Commission of Mexico rejected its appeal of a July decision by the agency that refused to greenlight Sherwin-Williams’ bid for privately held Comex.
