Jury Awards $2M To KBR Workers In OT Class Action

Law360, New York (November 1, 2013, 1:27 PM EDT) -- An Iowa federal jury on Wednesday handed down a verdict requiring maintenance contractor KBR Inc. to pay $1.96 million in total damages in a class action to offset the company's failure to pay overtime wages to its workers at an Archer Daniels Midland Co. corn processing plant.

The jury was ultimately swayed by arguments from the workers that KBR and its predecessor, BE&K Inc., were in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act by not compensating them for time spent performing work-related tasks upon entering the facility...
