Nonprofit Fights Verdict Over Black-On-Black Use Of N-Word

Law360, New York (November 5, 2013, 7:13 PM EST) -- A New York nonprofit urged a federal judge Tuesday to overturn a jury’s discrimination verdict over a black boss' using the N-word in reference to a black employee, arguing that workplace bullying is not illegal.

Showing that a few N-words have been thrown into workplace conversation is not enough to prove the employer discriminates, a lawyer for Strive East Harlem Employment Services said at oral arguments in Manhattan.
