EEOC Told To Update Guidance For English-Only Policies

Law360, Washington (November 13, 2013, 7:37 PM EST) -- The growing international and linguistic diversity of the American workforce is creating new compliance challenges for employers and making more workers vulnerable to discrimination, a group of employment experts told the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Wednesday, saying agency compliance guidelines need updating.

The attorneys, including representatives from immigrants’ rights groups and business law firms, convened for a hearing to discuss EEOC statutes and guidance designed to deter alleged national origin discrimination.
