Fla., Ala. Back Miss. In Flood Insurance Rate Hike Fight

Law360, Miami (November 12, 2013, 7:34 PM EST) -- The governors of both Florida and Alabama on Monday backed Mississippi in its suit against the U.S. government over rate hikes on policies backed by the National Flood Insurance Program, saying the move could wreck the recovering housing markets in both states.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley filed an amici brief in a suit brought by Mississippi's insurance regulator against the Federal Emergency Management Agency just days before rate hikes as high as 3,000 percent took effect Oct. 1.
