Calif. Officials Unveil New Fracking Regulations

Law360, Los Angeles (November 15, 2013, 6:25 PM EST) -- California state officials on Friday unveiled newly proposed fracking regulations, believed to be the toughest in the U.S., that would require energy companies to notify the public before they start hydraulic fracturing operations and to disclose chemicals used in the undertakings.

The California Department of Conservation issued public notice of the regulations for well-stimulation treatment in oil and gas production, initiating a 60-day public comment period that will likely be followed by another 45-day public comment period next year, the agency said.
