Fed. Claims Court Awards $235M More To Nuclear Utilities

Law360, Los Angeles (November 15, 2013, 10:10 PM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Federal Claims awarded $235.4 million in combined damages on Thursday to three New England nuclear utilities for the government's breach of agreements governing the disposal of spent nuclear fuel from their plants.

Judge James F. Merow awarded $126.3 million to Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Co., $73.3 million to Yankee Atomic Electric Co. and $35.7 million to Maine Yankee Atomic Power Co., for claims that there were substantial delays in the U.S. Department of Energy's removal, transportation and disposal of spent nuclear fuel,...
