DOE Greenlights Freeport LNG Export Expansion

Law360, New York (November 18, 2013, 5:07 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Energy on Friday said Freeport LNG Extraction LP could export an additional 400 million cubic feet per day of liquefied natural gas from a previously approved Texas facility.

The DOE gave its conditional approval to Freeport’s request to export 1.8 billion cubic feet of LNG per day for 20 years from its proposed liquefaction facility and export terminal on Texas’ Quintana Island to countries that lack free trade agreements with the U.S. That’s up from the 1.4 billion cubic feet per day...
