US Agents Seize $2M In DMAA Supplements

Law360, New York (November 18, 2013, 6:52 PM EST) -- U.S. enforcement agents have seized more than $2 million in dietary supplements from weight loss and energy supplement maker Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Inc. that contain the controversial stimulant dimethylamylamine, or DMAA, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Monday.

The move comes amid a dispute between Hi-Tech and the FDA, in which the Georgia-based firm is arguing that the FDA has not carried out the required rulemaking process to formally ban the stimulant.
